For British music loving Prommers...

This is slightly off-topic (and possibly not cricket, advertising someone else's summer festival), but hey.....

I know I'm not alone in thinking that the Proms (great though they are) could do more to promote British music (other than that at the execrable end of the contemporary spectrum). Well, the programme of this year's Three Choirs Festival is superb.

Elgar's Apostles/2nd symph, Walton's Belshazzar's Feast, & Handel's Messiah, but more significantly Delius' Mass of Life, Howells' Hymnus Paradisi, Holst's Hymn of Jesus & Vaughan-Williams Sea Symphony.

I'm pretty confident I'll be in the civilised surroundings of Gloucester Cathedral that August week, rather than the hothouse of the Kensington bowl. Quite possibly to the satisfaction of those of you in Kensington!
