What did anyone else think of the performance of Peer Gynt, I wonder? I must admit I went primarily with the thought that I would see Paul Scofield up close and was momentarily disappointed when it was clear that he would not be there. But Simon Callow was a wonderful substitute and the performance was absolutely rivetting. It turned out to be one of the most memorable proms concerts that I have seen.
