I'm sure there are some fellow lurkers....

Excitement? Well, perhaps muted anticipation is nearer the mark. I've heard very few rumours this year, so have no idea what to expect.

Everyone knows about Rattle's Mahler 8; I'm profoundly disappointed at the timing of this potentially momentous event. Unless I've misunderstood, the RAH organ is now out of commission. The RAH is normally the only place to hear Mahler 8 in all its uniquely shattering glory, due to the mighty power of the RAH organ. Without it, this potentially momentous event will be a damp squib for me....

Hopefully, the lack of rumours means the season will come as a pleasant surprise. It's certainly out early this year, on 25th April.

Don't really know what's on my wish-list. I've heard some of my old favourites so many times at the Proms and elsewhere, that something different would be nice. Vaughan-Williams' Sinfonia Antartica comes to mind (though again without the organ it wouldn't really work).More John Adams, esp Harmonielehre would be good. Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky hasn't been heard for many years either....

Anyway, as ever with 70 odd concerts, there's bound to be something for most tastes.

Happy Promming!
