She was curled up in her bed under the down comforter, despite the scorching summer heat, tears dampening her pillow and Kenny Chesney crooning softly over her stereo. On the floor beside her bed was a pile of boxes and a variety of tests - each one of them screaming the truth that she couldn't and didn't want to quite believe...

He was pacing the living room - she had called him in a panic, and he had been the one to bring her the bag of extra tests from the pharmacy, and he had held her through the first wave of tears.. But now she had - thankfully - cried something about wanting to be alone, but would he please not leave her, so he had managed to escape to the other room. Hands shoved into the pockets of his faded jeans, a logo tee thrown on, hair a mess - he had been sleeping when she called - he muttered quietly to himself, completely at a loss at what he should do.

She had hurried over as soon as she got her friends message, she'd been hiding low thanks to her swollen and bruised lower lip. Now though, it was mostly hidden beneath lip gloss and make up. She didn't bother to knock, just walked in and stopped as she saw Jake. "Where is she?" Her problems with the man weren't a concern right now, her best friend was hurtin'. She opened her arms to her friend, letting her crawl in the loving embrace. They'd been best friends for as long as she could remember, and usually Kesi had a solution to everything...this time she didn't. She just held her friend, unsure of what to say. He couldn't help feeling partially at fault - like he had pushed her to grown up too fast, and there was no turning back once it was said and done.
