I worked with Gary for a time at WMBA. Quirky as hell, but a fundamentally good guy. He had a tough life, battling polio as a kid. Being stuck indoors so much helped develop his interest in radio and records. He would lug in boxes of 45s (the studios were on the second floor) because he wanted to be sure he could fulfill any request that came in. He probably only ever played five percent of the records he brought in. I remember a time when he gave away a rare record in a "name it and claim it" contest and the winner complained bout getting a used record.

Sorry to hear of his passing. So long, Gary.
