KQV turned radio out onto the street with its showcase studios, complete with speakers broadcasting to the live audience. It was great publicity at a time when downtown was the epicenter of activity. In the earliest years they tricked out the control room in the adjacent window with banks of flashing lights, etc., and ran the signal through an oscilloscope so you could see the actual program as well as the activity behind it. Fascinating and fun stuff. And as late as 1975, the last year in the windows, you could hear the jocks occasionally engage the people outside.
