Growing up listening to talk radio as a teenager, my buddy and I heard Uncle Dougie was signing autographs at a local mall. Prior to visiting him, we had been calling his show pretending to be much older than we were. When we arrived for his signature, it was such a thrill for us to actually see him in person. He was less than thrilled to see some "snotty nosed young punks" come to see him. Fast forward 20-some years later....I, and many others, were invited by WTAE and Uncle Dougie to come to the studio during his show for some Steeler Rah -Rah -type silliness. I shared the story with him and he laughed for a good while appreciating that this young punk put one over on him.

Whether people cared for him or not, it was one of the best experiences I have had growing up. Seeing him work his magic in the studio was priceless.

RIP Uncle Dougie! OHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!
