I am so angry! I have been taking prozac for four years now and I have gained over 35 pounds. I too have never had a weight problem until now. After taking prozac for the first year I had experienced a significant weight gain in a very short period of time. Since this was unusal for me I made an appointment to see my physician for fear that I might have developed a serious medical problem that could be to blame. I never even considered the prozac. I was tested for every kind of disease and disorder that could possible cause this and I was told that I was "perfectly healthy". The only explanation offered was that "as we age our metabolism slows" (I was 29). I am now beginning to taper my dosage and plan to be completely prozac free eventually. Good luck to everyone and please post any withdrawal symptoms etc. if you have already begun to lessen your medication drastically. Take Care.
