Hrm. -- Anonymous, 05:59:24 07/06/01 Fri [1]
An archaic wagon lumbered through the husk of the town, going the pace a giant snail would take. The lazy clip clop of horse hooves ornamented the everpresent rumbling of bulky, wooden wheels. If you followed your eyes to the front of the wagon, you would have seen a pure white horse pulling it, and in a vain attempt to control him, a frumpy woman was perched on his back.
"We're lost." She remarked sourly in a fluty soprono. "I don't have time to stay in a shambled ghost town; I was hoping to get to the busy township of Middell before tomorrow morning! And now, you dumb thing, because you dashed off, we're.. hopelessy stranded. Save your temper tantrums to when I don't have important business to attend. Next time you do this, you're getting it, Revival."
The stallion she had addressed, in reply, flung his ivory mane with vigor that frightened his rider. His eyes were not of a typical horse; bluish-white orbs which darted rabidly, seeking out another way to annoy this woman whose legs were stretched uncomfortably to accomodate this steed's massive girth. Revival was a horse for a battlefield, not for pulling a wagon on a cobblestone street.
The horse did not accept reigns or bridal, so the woman had to ride him bare back with little means of controlling him. Her slender fingers drifted up to stroke a mass of curls the color of flame which bobbed at each quirk of her head. She was obviously a trader of some sort. Her clothing was of gaudy colors, and ill-suited for traveling, while inside the wagon were items or trinkets of all sorts; weapons to foodware to apricot liqueur to dresses to collectibles to magic potions; whatever she could stuff in there and later sell for scandalous prices. She took great pride in her things and her skills, and made it a game to see how much she could cheat off her customer. Dezra Starcrafter was she, currently lost and not that pleased.
Suddenly, a great low rumble.. what sounded like-- no, it couldn't be! "It sounds like something, uh, really big!" She gasped, flailing a finger toward a delapidated church. "It's coming from around there! Let's get the hell outta here!"
Of course, the horse was in no mood to follow his so-called master's commands. He jerked into a gallop toward the church, the cumbersome wagon behind them tilting and swaying precariously at the sudden burst of speed.
