Subject: Feeding Frenzy

Today's snow storm forced many birds into local feeding stations, and my house was no different.

While nothing rare to report, I had 20+ species actually at the feeders today, including 2 I have never seen at the feeders themselves. A sorry American robin ate peanut pieces from a platform feeder, no doubt in desperation.

A flock of nearly 50 Red-winged blackbirds descended on the yard and gorged themselves on sunflower seed.

For only the second time that I have seen, a lone Brown creeper took suet out of one of my suet logs as well.

I'm sure others had the same experience the last 2 days---anything unusual out there???

On another note, it is nice to see some different names of folks posting to this message board recently. For those who do not know, the TNA also has a telephone hotline that is usually at least a little different than the information on this board---419-877-9640. There is an announcement on yesterday's tape of a new, interactive special feature I will be highlighting in the coming weeks when the reports are a bit slow. I invite you all to call and participate!

Good birding,

Greg Links
