Let's keep things in perspective. Columbia lost to Yale by a single point, 23-22, in a very exciting college football game. If the "ex-Lion Fan" really knew anything about Ivy League football, in general, and Columbia football in particular, he would be very proud of the Lions for what they accomplished today, i.e. almost defeat a fired-up tough Yale team with a big-time quarterback transfer from the University of Nebraska who picked apart a Lion secondary in the fourth quarter that had three of its four starters on the bench due to injuries. Yes, a loss is a loss, but freshman Sean Brackett was outstanding at quarterback in his first varsity action, Leon Ivery made a 75 yard run in first significant varsity action, Austin Knowlin and Andrew Kennedy made several great catches and both the offensive and defensive lines played extremely well. On defense, the Lions have been without their two best players (Owen Frazer and Alex Gross) for most of the season, and three other key starters were down with injuries. Yet, the defense held Yale to three points in the first half and only buckled at the end of the second half when Witt caught on fire against the Lion reserves. Overall, Coach Wilson and his staff have built up the program where you have 110 + quality young men who believe in themselves, Columbia, and Columbia football. Wilson is a class guy and you would want your son to play for him. As a former Columbia athlete, I feel good about what's happening and see a bright future ahead for the Lions.
