I agree with the positives -- and the frustration. The AD won't fire Wilson; he's done too good a job. The danger is that they won't be able to keep him.

For god's sake - get a life. I suspect the only people defending the program are parents of current players.

I guess it could be worse, we could be in the midst of a 44 game losing streak.

I don't know where to begin - surely I'm not the only one fed up with the program - and for what it is worth, I have been following the program since 1992. And attending tons of games - mostly losses, some wins.

You want to keep our coach? What program in their right mind would keep a guy with a win - loss record that he has? Show me one program that would keep this guy. I'm surprised we get anyone to coach at Columbia. He was rookie head coach when he took over the program and from my perspective, he has shown us nothing.

We have a future? A QB who fumbles the ball with 1.15 seconds left? A HB who makes a great run and fumbles the ball on the 5 yard line? This gives us hope? IN what way? These misplays are not abberations - they happen all the time for us.

I'm fed up with the - "We have a future..." Holy cow - we should revisit the poem that Foehi "Dryden" wrote on us - rings pretty true at this point.

If you have a team with a 17 game losing streak - just play Columbia, and did I mention - the winning team HB SET A SCHOOL CAREER RUSHING RECORD. Now, will you still tell me we have a good defense.

Bollinger wrote me a letter about 6 - 7 years ago promising something... but obviously he can't deliver.

Unless he calls his players "drug-addicted losers," Wilson deserves, and will get, one more year. If they gave Bob Naso five years, they'll give Wilson five -- for a variety of reasons, not all football-related. The main one is that he deserves a chance to show what his recruits can do as seniors. Garrett, McElreavy, and Shoop were shown the gate early for reasons that went beyond simply losing.

What worries me is what level of performance the administration will consider acceptable for this year and next to extend his contract. I still think we're looking at 2-5, 3-7 this year. Suppose he goes 3-4, 5-5 next year. Would that be considered acceptable progress? It shouldn't, but I think it will be.

AT the risk of sounding like a total nutjob,

I spewed a lot of vitriole last saturday, and reflecting on it - well I can't really explain it all away. Obviously I was upset with the game - guess I think too much about the program. I have the deepest respect for the decent guys who play on the team, coaches, and our supporters.

I had a wisdom tooth extracted Friday - does that explain it? As well, it never makes me happy when we lose -

but overall I say, best of luck to the Lions the rest of the way.

But honestly, can we get a winning season some day?

Way to repent, Ex Lion Fan, and your frustration is well undertood -- the Yale game was certainly one of our top heartbreakers of all time. As for a winning season, we had one only 13 years ago (8-2 in '96), and more will be coming, so don't despair. When I was there we even won the Ivy League title, so I know it can be done.
