Unless he calls his players "drug-addicted losers," Wilson deserves, and will get, one more year. If they gave Bob Naso five years, they'll give Wilson five -- for a variety of reasons, not all football-related. The main one is that he deserves a chance to show what his recruits can do as seniors. Garrett, McElreavy, and Shoop were shown the gate early for reasons that went beyond simply losing.
What worries me is what level of performance the administration will consider acceptable for this year and next to extend his contract. I still think we're looking at 2-5, 3-7 this year. Suppose he goes 3-4, 5-5 next year. Would that be considered acceptable progress? It shouldn't, but I think it will be.
