Marino's play calling in the second half of almost all of the games has been awful. He makes no real adjustments during halftime (he is too busy losing his temper) and seems to have an "if something is working well, stop doing it" and "if something isn't working well, stick with it" policy. We run downhill all over CCSU in the first half, he stops doing it. (No, run slow developing options and bubble screens into the teeth of a defense whose strength is side to side speed. Running straight at them, blowing them off the ball and getting big gains just wasn't good enough.) We pass all over Lafayette in the first half, he stops doing it. (No, run Millie up the middle on the first down every possession in the second half for 2 yards instead.) Their defenses don't have to adjust at halftime, he usually does it for them.

I will say he did do a good job this week in the Yale game. My guess is that he was limited in what plays he could call by the lack of experience of the frosh QB but nevertheless he did manage to be disciplined and stick with the stuff that was working. The fumbles were just tough breaks. Its football, stuff happens.

When it happens over and over again it is a trend and not a fluke. Columbia turns the ball over too much to win or be a good team. Facts are facts!

CU fan, regarding Marino I noticed that during the Yale game a different coach (tall African-American) was huddling with the offense on the sidelines. I have no idea if he was there in place of Marino or what was going on, but there's no question that the offensive schemes, play-calling, etc., especially in the second half, were vastly superior to what we've seen in previous games. Both TD passes off trick plays, the first the flea-flicker and the second the fake reverse, were very timely and executed to perfection. Congrats to all! It's possible that the "new look" offense had a lot to do with Brackett, who opens up many nore possibilities with his heady moves. M.A. is a strong runner and a good passer when on target, but Sean Brackett is more of a natural QB, very talented and a leader who can really light it up. If he stays healthy, good times ahead, starting with a strong showing against Harvard.

Marino is up in the box on the headphones. The guy on the sideline is the receivers coach who relays in Marino's calls.

Thanks CU Fan, for that info . That must mean that Marino's doing better -- seemed like night and day, especially in the second half once Brackett got going.

Yes, a new messiah for Columbia. This new qb will make all the difference. As they used to say in Brooklyn, WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!

But in Brooklyn, Conn., where Brackett is from, when they say that they really mean it.

fumbles hurt; but, last minute holding call on Yale's 4th down was the clincher.

great comeback for our blue due to unfortunate lion fumbles which gave away game.interesting how we clobbered the indians the tom toms regroup and run all over the lions and we end up with this game 23-22.outside of quakers and contabs anything can happen.
