Penn at Brown- BROWN
Improving Brown defense and running game makes the potent pass attack all the more dangerous.

Yale at Columbia- COLUMBIA
Columbia needs to turn it around here or they could go downhill from here.

Cornell at Princeton- CORNELL
If Princeton can't regroup, they may drop all remaining games including Dartmouth.

Dartmouth at Harvard- HARVARD

CU_88s logic is clear:

Columbia beat Princeton by 38
Harvard only bear Princeton by 34
Dartmouth thumped Columbia in embarrassing fashion
So naturally, Dartmouth will beat Harvard

Or pass me whataver he is drinking.

Penn/Brown

Three important, unanswered questions:

1. weather?
2. Garton?
3. Sewall

Saturday looks absolutely beautiful, Asia! 68 and mostly sunny, with no significant predicted wind. Unless something changes dramatically (don't hold your breath; this is New England and we have the most erratic weather in the world), it should be a great day for any sporting event. And perfect conditions for the passing game, something I am very happy about.

I hope you and a bunch of Penn fans are making the trip; it's always more fun when the away team brings a good crowd. It gets the home fans more into it, and I do recall the Penn band being pretty entertaining two years ago (for instance, whenever Penn made a 3rd-down stop or turnover, the band would play the first couple of lines of "Ever True to Brown", but then horribly distort it in a comical way. Even most of the people on our sideline were chuckling).

We have a group that travels who will be there no doubt. I'm in Philly as it always seems my family commitments have me in the wrong town each weekend.

Couldn't be happier about a good forecast. Most types of rain favors the better passing team. We've been over this one before but I assure you it's a fact. A sloppy field always favors the guy who knows where he is going (e.g the receiver) and slows down a good pass rush.

Brown over Penn- Estes owns Bagnoli. A win on Saturday will make it six straight I believe. Penn's defense isn't good enough to hold Brown under 24 and Penn's offense surely won't score more than that. Inside source told me Sewall is a go. Last time Penn came to Providence their whole offense got injured on the sloppy grass.

Yale over Columbia- Yale has a good defense and Columbia turns the ball over. Yale's defense comes up big and Columbia once again slides to the back of the league.

Cornell over Princeton- I think Cornell's defense can shut down the struggling Princeton offense. Cornell needs to just run Wildcat with Liuzza the whole game to establish some run threat.

Harvard over Dartmouth- Congrads on the win Dartmouth but no way you can pull an upset here. Harvard by 24.

Penn at Brown- No comment. I'm too nervous to pick anything. It has potential to be a blowout if the Penn offense can't match the Brown offense, but if the Penn defense is spectacular, if could be a VERY close game as their offense faces an improving Brown defense that you simply cannot run against. I canceled a trip to NYC to see family from California whom I have not seen in 5 years for this- they now have to drive all the way up here because I refuse to leave the area this weekend! ; )

Yale at Columbia- Yale, 17-10
Seems like the safer pick at this point. Yale's offense is futile, but that defense can be lethal, and Columbia's problem has been turnovers this year. I like them odds.

Cornell at Princeton- Cornell, 24-14
The Cornell defense was actually competitive for less than 3 full quarters with Brown last week. The Princeton offense held its own for about a half. But then both teams collapsed. Cornell's collapse was more emphatic and took a shorter amount of time, but that's because they held on longer than Princeton. And frankly, from what I could hear in both games, Cornell sounded like a much better team. If they play the same pressure defense that they did against Brown, Princeton doesn't stand much of a chance and could get blown out and/or shutout.

Dartmouth at Harvard- Harvard, 31-17
Dartmouth is obviously improving, but it's Harvard. Not one person will be surprised if they run the table. Beating Columbia was a good step and nice morale boost, but, again, this is Harvard.

I'll say Brown 16-9 over Penn
Yale 17-13 over Columbia
and I pretty much agree with you
on the 2 other games.

Cornell over Princeton - Can either team score in the red zone or will their defenses need to getting the job done? Princeton worries me as they shut down Colgate until OT.

Yale beats Columbia - Lions started hot but are tanking like someone else I know.

Brown knocks off Penn - Brown is the best team in the Ivy League right now. Any team that beats Holy Cross is very good as the Crusaders cruised past Colgate last weekend.

Dartmouth surprises Harvard - I am going out on a limb on this one, but the Big Green found a running back and something is going right with that team.
