At the Yale game going from one of the best highs to the lowest low, I was reflecting on the past 41 years of mostly depressing CU football here in the greatest city in the world. I'm so disgusted by the ineptitude of our program regardless who the coach might be. The Shoop days were the lowpoint as his lack of moral integrity overshadowed all else in the program. Credit to Dr. Murphy with the hiring of Coach Wilson. He needs to be given a renewal and a strong statement will be made that he is supported by our community. Bottom line, we need better players. We can compete, but we're not getting the wins. Saturdays crash is right up there as one of the biggest flops in NCAA history. 3 games to go with maybe only the Cornell game as a possible win, although that would be a huge surprise. 2-8 sucks.

I have read several posts on this board from Columbia fans suggesting that they need "better players". My son is a current Ivy player (defensive) and when he was being recruited he sent out emails and game film to all of the Ivies. He was contacted and recruited by all of the schools but Columbia and Cornell. My question is how is it that Penn, who is consistently one of the top defenses in the league, made an early offer to my son and Columbia showed absolutely no interest at all? Is Columbia missing out on athletes because they choose other schools or are they just overlooking talent that other staffs recognize?

I certainly wouldn't be surprised at 2-8, but Cornell has been pretty bad this year too. Remember, they lost to Princeton. And historically home field has not meant much in the Columbia-Cornell series. I like the Lions to win in Ithaca, which would leave them 0-5 at home and 3-2 on the road for the season.
