Vicki Chun should immediately get to work in giving Reno a contact extension. He is one of the top coach’s in Yale’s illustrious history. If he continues to succeed, he'll be gone sooner than later. If he doesn't continue to succeed, it's a moot point. Coaching contracts are essentially in pencil; a long-term extension wouldn't prevent him from leaving for an attractive FB$ job. A contract extension would increase the buyout and also increase the stakes for Reno in giving up job security. I know it is by no means a guarantee to keep Reno, but it would strengthen Yale’s hands. Plus there’s always the old adage to consider that people quit their bosses, not their jobs. Perhaps Reno feels unappreciated. A contract extension can rectify that too. Yale has managed to keep James Jones by giving him a lengthy contract extension, and he is arguably more marketable than Reno. They can keep Reno too if they put the same effort into it.
