Subject: Army tough Offensive Line nominated for major award!

A major part of Army's success has been a powerful and punishing offensive line. The Army O-line, which is a deserved finalist for the Joe Moore Award as the nation's top offensive line, is led by fifth-year senior and last year's team captain left tackle Conner Finucane, who was named Second-Team All-AAC.

In recent years I have been critical of college football OL play, especially zone blocking and lack of physicality. On Friday evening I watched the Army vs. Tulane game and I love how those cadets fire out from the line of scrimmage and drive the defender off the ball. By the way, "cut blocking" is no longer allowed, but the Army offensive line who are often smaller than their competitors really know how to block. The Army O-line is quick off the ball and they stay low, using their shoulder pads rather than their hands to open holes. Sure Army plays the Triple option, but those guys block the way the game is supposed to be played. Not this "Patty Cake" crap.
