Of course the Ivy League and all other conferences need to recruit. I also think every NCAA sport should always make walk-on spots available. Jim Boeheim of Syracuse had wallk-on players throughout his career.

Regardless of professional opportunities, the vast majority of student-athletes even in the Power 5 conferences will not be going pro after graduation. I also think the NIL contracts while attractive now, are most likely not sustainable for the majority of businesses offering them to college players. Look at all these great college players who basically wash out quickly in the NFL, etc.

If the NIL money comes from boosters and others who want to create a strong "college" team, how the players fare in the NFL won't affect their willingness to pay players in college. In these Power 5 (or 2?) conferences, the prevailing dogma is football, so I don't see that changing - only intensifying.

Let’s not get on that train. My modest $ goes to the U. and teams in general, NOT to any NIL.

NIL collectives are not for those with modest donations.

I am still somewhat surprised that some contrarian IL billionaire hasnt decided a few mil$ doled out as NIL would be a fun way to give a poke in the eye to the powers that be of their alma mater
