Dartmouth men's hockey is undefeated and beat Vermont 7-2 last night.

I cannot remember beating UVM by that much.

Dartmouth is off to a good start this season for sure, but keeping it perspective, Vermont hasn't had a winning season in 9 years.

It didn't seem that long ago when they were in the Frozen Four. But I guess it was (2009).

Time flies!!!

USA Today ranks Dartmouth #3 in men's hockey

Not tonite. And P is not the toughest ECAC opponent the rest of the way. Maybe just a bend in the road? Tomorrow night will be interesting. Does Dartmouth bounce back? QU clobbered H tonite. Can P keep up its home ice magic against an H team probably smarting from tonite with something to prove? A P regulation win improbably puts us in 1st place in the ECAC, albeit less than halfway through the season. I am not counting the points yet.

Is Clarke DC’s first string goalie?

Check that. If DC wins it will be solely in first place regardless of a P win. I am not counting QU’s points either.

One other tidbit: The opening season 7 straight home game wins ties a P record— set in 1923, the year Hobey Baker Rink opened.

It was a tied game going into the 3rd period.

P unexpectedly leaps into 1st place. After blowing a 2-0 lead, Tigers score with under 3 seconds in regulation for the 3-2 win over H. I don’t expect this to be where we finish, but fun to watch this great start.

Interestingly, this red hot start at home by the men (8-0) and the women (9-1) follows a major overhaul of the rink structure at Baker

WIH has always been the more successful of the two. I am happy for the players and the coaches. Kessel is a new HC and Syer, like all of his predecessors for at least 60 years, has a job that historically has been very tough. He now has the longest opening win streak in the 103 history of the Rink.

Well, the new boards and glass may be “softer” on the players crashing into them but the list of injured P players mentioned by the announcers suggests they have not been terribly mitigating. Announcers probably overstated the list though. Check out the ECAC M and W standings. Not something you see much and maybe never before. Don’t wait until next weekend though.
