I have talked two three IL coaches,
Every one mentioned restoring the roster-reduction from the COVID years.
Three admission slots x 4 recruiting classes is a 12 athlete disadvantage.

While this seems immaterial in the context of the current rosters, coaches describe the importance of depth due to injury, transfers (compounded by NIL and portal).

It's pretty obvious that they don't. They just love touting how good they are in sports that most other schools don't sponsor.
