Would love to see some Yale Fans in Bozeman. Big Sky is open, limited skiing, but skiing, nevertheless. Totally bummed that your coach won't do any radio interviews, press conferences, etc. It is nice to hear about where your opponent is from, their experiences throughout the season, etc. Our local guy really loves to get the backgrounds of the university, programs and history. Anyway, looking forward to the game and seeing your team. Little scared of the running back and receiver coming back from injury. The weather is the weather...this is what you play for. December. I don't think any snow during the game, but you might want to wear your fur lined undies.

Montana State is favored by 27.5 points as of this morning; the Bobcats have had two weeks' rest and will be playing at home, in the cold, and at an altitude where Yale has no experience. Could be pretty rough...but I'm hoping Yale keeps it from being a blowout and cements the perception that the Ivy League belongs in this tournament.

I’m with Deep Blue, if Yale can keep this close they have a good chance to be headed to Texas. Weather has a 70% chance of Snow. And a hostile fan base, in Bozeman. Majority of people snickering regarding Ivy League nerds playing football in this format. So Yale being Yale needs to show these knuckle daggers how it’s done.!! So with that Go Ivy League, but especially GO BULLDOGS and BEAT them Cats.!! Yale31 Montana State 28

I've said on this board for years that Ivy League football needs two things and does not need two other things.

What we do not need: athletic scholarships and an eleventh game.

What we do need: FCS playoff participation and an earlier start to the season, preferably the Saturday after Labor Day.

FCS playoff participation will pay tremendous dividends. We are a competitive conference and our champion will, in some years, make noise. The best of our champions is a threat to go all the way. Over the last two decades, I think that three-to-five of our best were candidates to make it to the Final Four.

Not coincidentally, FCS playoff participation may lead to an earlier start to the season. Our coaches now realize that we need to schedule up in out-of-conference games to improve our playoff seeding.

In this case, scheduling up does not mean just dropping Stetson and Merrimack. It means one or two games per season per Ivy title contender against the Mercer's and Villanova's of the world, on our way to scheduling against the Dakotas and Montanas. The only time that the latter are willing to play us is earlier in September. This may take some time, but it's the logical step, a season start two weeks earlier.

Last Saturday when Yale and Harvard were trailing at halftime by 56 points cumulatively, it didn't look great. But then it all turned around. Bigly.

We're playing with house money now. I'm optimistic. Let's go.

You could have listed a number of other teams before Merrimack.

They probably would have finished in the middle of the Patriot League.

You are correct. There are better examples than Merrimack.

I think I just had a kneejerk reaction from when I first found out a few years ago that Harvard men's basketball was going to play Merrimack. My first thought was, "As in the Monitor?"

I like to maintain the self-congratulatory delusion that there are very few NCAA colleges (as opposed to NAIA) I have never heard of.

I was struck that the most famous university in the world by far was going to play a varsity basketball competition against a school which was completely new to me. And I lived in Boston for more than a decade, about half an hour from Merrimack.

One of the greatest women I ever dated, on our first date told me that she had graduated from Pacific Lutheran University. Then she added, "We're national champions." I asked, "In what?"

She responded, "In football."

I literally thought that she might be crazy. Well, as the hours passed on our that fateful first date, it became clear that, not only was she sane, she was one of the smartest, clearest thinking, and most capable people I had ever met.

Later I looked up Pacific Lutheran. Sure enough, they were the reigning NAIA Division II national champions in football.

There are more schools you've never heard of than you might think.

Bobcat fan here. Hope to see some of your fans make the trip. Please circulate through the tailgates if you do, I think you'll find our crew hospitable, willing to share a beer and some food, and talk a little football. The weather looks to straighten out by kickoff. As for the game, I have some opinions on how it'll go, but I'm excited to see your RB play and just get a look at what the Ivy League looks like on the field.

I was in Bozeman (and Big Sky) this summer -- and loved it out there. Little did I know I was unwittingly scouting future venues for Yale football, LOL.
I would really love to make the road trip to experience some pre-game Bobcat hospitality and watch Yale challenge themselves against the #47 team in the country (per Sagarin--better than programs such as Nebraska, Boise St., the service academies, VA Tech, UCLA, UConn, BC, Hawaii, Belichick's UNC). Unfortunately, I'll instead be tuned to ESPN+, thankful for protection from the elements, echoing Old Blue's hopes that our banged-up squad makes a good showing on the field and is able to advance to the quarterfinals.

Gentlemen; I would be honored to experience the hospitality of the westerners from the big sky country. Unfortunately, the trip is not on the table. The bobcat faithful are anxious to see what are blue will bring to the table. It is unclear which players will be available for this contest. I am hopeful whoever does participate will do our squad proud.

21-13.

Yale, a four-score underdog, was in this game until the end against the number-two seed, having cleared the first round. I think most people would agree that the Ivy League champion belongs in this tournament.

The overarching opinion of many Montana State fans on social media this week was that this game was going to be something of a glorified late-season scrimmage, and anything less than a 40-point victory would feel like a loss. I think the Bulldogs gave them of lot more of a fight than they wanted and opened up eyes all across the country. Take away a couple of unfortunate tipped passes and an unlucky end-zone fumble bounce, and the outcome could just as easily gone the other way. The Yale Bulldogs represented quite well. Helluva season! Looking forward to 2026!

As a big time Tiger fan since the mid 60's, if you didn't get excited watching Yale's last two games, you just don't appreciate IL football. Absent those two key turnovers, this is possibly a Yale win. I compare this to 1989 when the NCAA's were thinking about taking away the automatic bid to the NCAA basketball tournament. That is, until the Princeton Georgetown game. Yale has set the groundwork for the rest of the Ivies. That can't be bad. Congrats to Yale.

P-Fan is right. Absent the two turnovers Yale's season might have continued. Nonetheless this Yale team provided Bulldog fans and Ivy fans with some outstanding entertainment for two playoff games and showed the Ivy League can be a formidable opponent against the top ranked FCS teams. Congratulations Yale team 152. Thank you for a great season.

Yale deserves applause from all the ivy teams and I expect this game will facilitate recruiting for everyone. They played with heart that should be a lesson to all. Next year's ivy representative(s) can know they belong. I bet MS knows this was a seesaw contest.

I thought there were several strategic mistakes that handicapped and ultimately cost them a chance. First, going for 2 after the first TD. I know some people advocate it based on "analytics", but I have never been a fan of such a tactic until it's necessary. Second, in the final few minutes of the game they were not organized enough to get off quick plays, and when closing on on their second TD ran too many time-consuming running plays to gain a couple yards for a first down (unsuccessfully), showing lack of urgency as the announcers commented.

Finally, I can't help thinking how Princeton played Yale mostly even until the final minutes. What could have been.

I thought Princeton played very well against Yale and was a much better team than their win/loss record indicated. If Princeton had beaten Yale, though, Harvard would have won the league, there would most likely have been no at-large bid for Yale and, after Harvard got beaten 52-7 by Villanova, the first year of postseason play would have been blighted because no one in FCS football outside of the Ivies would take Ivy football seriously. In the circumstances, I think Princeton took one for the team.

Congratulations to each every member of this team. The dedication and hard work has paid off. To showing the country what Yale Football truly is. For being the ambassadors for The Ivy League. That you are brilliant athletes. To the coaches who teach and guide these young men. To the staff that over see their care. 28.5 point underdogs, 11% chance to win the game.
Most of the so called experts, gave Yale no respect, well with last weeks win. This weeks battle MSU football team was extremely lucky to escape with a win. So many people are so damn PROUD of you. !!
To the Seniors on the team. When you get together for your reunions and get togethers . You will have some great memories to share. 4 years of Big Three Championships. Winning against Princeton and Harvard. Winning 3 Ivy League Football Championships. (Remarkable).!!
Going to the FCS Playoffs leading teams for the future .To Mason Shipp, you young man deserve much of the gratitude in the fight to open the eyes of the Ivy League Administration in making this a reality. For Yale and the other 7 institutions. Because with out you I wouldn’t be writing this .!! So Thank you so much for Everything.
Have a wonderful Holiday season, blessed New Year to all . May we do this again . Go Bulldogs.!!

Yale redeemed the Ivy with this gutsy performance. To take the #2 team to the brink shows that the Bulldogs can play with anyone. If this had been at a neutral site, among a few other things, this could've been a Yale win. Yale did a great job cleaning up the mess Harvard left with that debacle at Villanova...
