In Cambridge, Top 5 squads Harvard and Princeton went at it tooth and nail.

Harvard won the league regular season with a 3-1 decision in September in Princeton, then went on to be the only undefeated team in the country.

Tigers returned the favor today with a 2-1 decision in a very evenly played match.

Both should get home field for the NCAAs, and it’s possible this was a preview of the NCAAs final.

Harvard had a penalty corner in the last minute, within which they had a goal waved off.

UNC seeded number one because they’re not Ivy.

Princeton seeded 2, open at home on Fri against Fairfield/BU winner.

Harvard seeded 3, home on Fri vs UNH

UVA seeded 4, setting up possible ACC vs. ACC and Ivy vs. Ivy in the semis.

Yale! essentially a 12 seed, plays Northwestern at Charlottesville Friday. Great recognition for a fine season that often in the past would be ignored.

#2 seed Princeton spots Fairfield a goal then dominates 3-1. Face Syracuse at Princeton Sunday.

#3 seed Harvard parries with UNH for a half, then goes wild 8-2. Host UConn on Sunday.

Yale facing tacit #5 seed Northwestern played tough, then caved 1-5.

Big upset of the day Miami (OH) over #4 UVA. #1 UNC edged St. Joe’s 2-1.

Ivies with two squads in the Final Four. Great season for the league.

Crimson scores in the 2Q, then keeps pressing to blunt UConn 1-0.

Tigers lost in OT early in the year at Syracuse. Came back big today to dominate possession, but Cuse tied 1-1 off a corner with four minutes left. Tigers attacked and scored two minutes later to win it 2-1.

H/P is one semi next week, the other UNC/Northwestern. Tigers have played all three of the others, beating H and NW, losing to H and UNC.

Interesting that lacrosse is starting to move from an academic dominated sport as it has become more mainstream while field hockey seems to have gone the other way with H, P, Northwestern and UNC. Thoughts?

If you go 25 deep on the RPI, the two sports still have generally the same profile of heavy ACC plus Big Ten plus Big East plus Ivy, with some added traditional schools.

This field hockey season had the Ivies clustering higher than normal, partly due to the current all-out tong war between Harvard and Princeton.

Huge defensive struggle for 55 minutes, then Tigers got a freak goal on a pass across the goalmouth and that was that. Three monumental matches this season, Princeton won the last two. They go the finals Sunday with a 14-game winning streak. Either UNC or Northwestern will have their hands full.

Ivy champ Crimson with a great season, just a few inches short of a national title.

Tigers will face Northwestern who came from being.down 3-1 to beat #1 sees UNC 4-3 in OT. Princeton gave NW its only loss of the year beating them 3-2 in Evanston in October.

NW created more chances throughout the match, but Tigers went up 1-0 at the end of the 3Q. NW tied it in the fourth, then scored again on a penaty corner at the beginning of the 2 OT.

Second straight title for the Huskies, they have now won 26 of their last 27, the only loss to Tigers in Evanston. Great season for Princeton, with piles of starters returning next year.

A disappointing end for P. It was fun watching the P ladies intensely battling for a national title on ESPNU. Until the last play.

Checked on stats with a little less than 10 minutes to go and it showed Princeton up 2-0! 😁 I figured that this was in the bag. I got ready to post on Voy. A couple of minutes later before I had a chance to post the good news I checked and it was back to 1-0 Tigers😟That quickly changed to 1-1 tie.🙄 What happened? Did we score a contested goal that was overruled?🤔 Or was the stats person asleep and inadvertently gave us a goal?🤨 What a disappointment!☹️
