WHY!?! I really like the atmosphere at Harvard for THE GAME! When the game is close, and it packed, Harvard Stadium rocks. It has a very intimate setting as well lending to the excitement! Only drawback in my opinion are the stone slabs we sit on...

I wonder what the cost of these tickets will be?! Wasn't the ticket price at Harvard over $100 dollars last year regardless of adult or child?

I agree. I’d rather watch a The Game at Harvard Stadium than at Fenway. Not sure why Harvard is doing this, unless perhaps they need the money. 💰

I was there with ya GG.

I have been to hundreds of college and high school football games, including some at the frozen tundra of Hanover in November; but that night was the coldest I have ever experienced.

It did not help that Brown played miserable.

I was in a local pub by the third quarter.

I think Yale posters are missing important points. Coach Reno has privately expressed concern that ancient Harvard bandbox limits Yale attendance, with only 10,000 seats allocated to Yale. Extra 5k seats at Fenway make a difference, at the margin. Long term solution: tear down the 120 yr old dump, and replace with a modern 40,000 seat Facility.

Harvard announced last year that it's doing major renovations to its athletic facilities over the next 10 years.

That includes Harvard Stadium. They expect to add seating.

Surely Harvard isn't doing this to accommodate Reno, is it?

Would Yale get more than half the extra tickets? Aside from satisfying 2500 more Yale fans and making them happy to be able to attend, isn't this a wash from Yale's perspective? And this assumes Yale gets half the extra seats, not less.

Have The Game at the Yale Bowl. 21,000 more seats. Tickets don’t cost $100.00 a seat , better viewing. Have the game played in New Haven.

Fenway is a great place for baseball but a poor place to watch football. The experience in 2018 was disappointing except when they played Sweet Caroline and all the fans rose and sang along. Of course my view was colored by the Harvard win (the only one in Boston since 2014). I understand the limitations of Harvard Stadium with the concrete seats (bring something to sit on!) but it is a great venue for football. And it’s the reason the forward pass was legalized in football, giving it historic significance (the venues of both Harvard and Yale played big roles in the sport; all the ‘bowl’ games owe the name to the Yale Bowl which was copied for the Tournament of Roses stadium).

Having consulted the Fenway website, it is clear that it seats 7,000 more than the Stadium. Right now, many Yale students are shut out of the Stadium due to its small size, which seems a shame to me. Harvard is between a rock and a hard place on this issue for a variety of reasons: 1. Unrelenting attacks from Trump Admin that endanger any project outside the scope of institutional core purposes; 2. Poor performance of Harvard endowment, especially its reliance on illiquid assets; and 3. Difficulty of renovating a dilapidated structure that any fair inspection would consign to condemnation.

It is nice to wax eloquent about historic structures, but not if they are a menace to health, comfort and safety, as the pile on the Charles is.

Wasn’t this task being undertaken 6 years ago. Then they pulled the plug on it.? It’s hard for anyone to get a ticket up in Brighton. I haven’t been to a game up there since 2006.
Not for the lack of trying either.

How about playing “the game” at a neutral site every year, held one week after the end of the Ivy season for the rest of the Ivies? The site could be Princeton Stadium, a comfortable updated locale, where H and Y would get equal access to tickets and the Big 3 Championship would be settled.
