Another point to make is that every other time the Constitution uses the term "people", it is clearly referring to and addressing the rights of individual citizens.
Therefore, to say that "...the right of *the people* to keep and bear arms..." refers to anything but individual rights is to say that the Constitution uses a completely different definition for "people" on this one single occasion.
If they want to argue semantice, let's argue semantics.
Also, the Bill of Rights was written specifically to define and protect the rights and liberties of individuals. The "militia/national guard" argument assumes that the Second Amendment is the *only* part of the Bill of Rights designed to protect the rights of government.
