Della,

You are so funny and so right!

I listened attentively to President Bush's state of the campaign address. Yep..you heard me right. To me it was more like a campaign speech than a State of the Union Address. He laid out a fiscal banquet that would not pass muster for even the average junior high student of my day. I just wonder how many average Americans heard the same thing I did? I suspect the wands will win this one too.

From the moment our President deployed troops it was already set in stone. We never stand down! I do not profess to know what the camel jockies are intending for us but I know we have postured and spent mega bucks in the last five decades to defend against whatever sand they can throw at us. If we aren't prepared by now, I guess we will have to leave it, as usual, to a few good men like those on Flight 93, to take matters into their own hands. I only hope in the aftermath of whatever may come, we will re-evaluate our leaders and their functions.

BTW...at the same time we rid ourselves of their ineffectiveness, I hope we will rid ourselves of some of the terms I have come to hate. For instance:

Weapons of Mass Distruction.
Is their any other kind when used as a weapon? A kitchen butter knife can be a WMD if wielded by a psychopath against an unarmed and terrified group of people.

Horrific.
Won't the old standard "horrible" or superlitave "horrendous" serve just as well? I am sick of "horrific".

If we really need buzz words to define our state now....how about this one...."madness".
