Actually John, a church on every corner is not bigotry. Rather, it is another bequest of the Constitution, which has already been noted as the protector of religious liberty in this land.
In passing numerous of these corner churches, I've yet to see a pastor dash at me and attempt to 'force' their 'god fairytale' down my throat. Neither have I seen persons dragged into these churces, to worship against their will.
In reading your post, I was unable to determine what you define as religious coercion. However, I was able to conclude that it is the mere existence of belief systems other than your own which you find objectionable. Unfortunately, that is exactly the bigotry about which you complain.
All Americans, whether atheists, Baptists, Hindus, or Jews, should properly rejoice in the presence of religious institutions, especially those with which we disagree. It is this tolerance which is the keystone of our freedom.
Sincerely,
Leland Edward Stone
