As if! Such concepts are not originated by Libertarians...just as Christians wrongfully claim they have the monopoly on the Golden Rule. Which rule was taught by certain people here and there around the globe, on and off for many, many centuries BEFORE Christianity and even Judaism ever came to be.
I find Libertarians to be smug, self-centered, spoiled snots who don't give diddly squat about protecting our poor, providing a sane and secure safety net for our entire nation...including quality universal health care and housing. They provide nothing more than lip service ('scuse pun) when it comes to gay rights.
I am a very liberal Christian, who is also a gay activist. I have no problem associating with folks of different world views, including atheism. There ARE Christians like me, only they are outnumbered by the conservative and fundamentalist populations. My caliber of Christian is in alignment with great thinkers like Teilhard de Chardin and C.S. Lewis. We don't see Christianity as superior to other world views...for in this diversity is God's very celebration of humanity.
For a libertarian to say that a Christian could NEVER be a "true" libertarian, is like a Christian that proclaims no practicing homosexual could ever be a "true" Christian. I see many libertarians usurping concepts of ethical values and wresting it for their own, as if they not only STAND for these things (they don't), but actually ORIGINATED them.
And isn't that the same sleazy tactics so successfully carried out by religious fanatics? The libertarian movement is redefining what it means to be "unAmerikan": if you are not toeing the libertarian status quo.
Libertarians are affluent, spoiled mama's boys and girls...
warmed over Republicans. Same old stale elephant droppings all over again.
