While I could agree with your title, the premise seems to be that a religeon cannot be responsible for the actions of the governments which function in it's domain.
While that answer may not be politically correct,(due to the nature of religeous belief,) you have not proved it to be wrong.
Christianity germinating with Greek politics in the ancient world have provided the roots of democracy,which is the best the world has to offer at this time.
Islam is no doubt an improvement on the historical culture of the middle east. But it conspicuously allows people to act unethically and simultaneously claim the moral high ground. The power of the government/church or other clandestine organization can magnify this into horrific evil
