Subject: Infantile remarks posted to this web forum

Why are the remarks that I read here so infantile? Why are the remarks that I hear from Bush oh so very ridiculous? Bush describes the War on Terror as "us vs. them, a showdown between good and evil". He speaks in terms of black and white not only omitting grey areas but even failing to acknowledge the existence of grey area. Bush described the prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq as "an opportunity for Iraqis to see how democracy works". That gross mischaracterization of events went virtually unscrutinized by the mass media. Now, to address my first question why aren't more people posting to this site making critical analysis about claims and events that are occurring. Most of what I read on this (and other) site is an extension of the rhetoric spewed by the media and/or politicians. Statements like "we are bringing them Democracy in Iraq" and "they hate freedom" are as common on this web forum as they are on www.whitehouse.gov. But, I implore you all to pause and take note of what you are saying when you say these things. I challenge everyone (who doesn’t already do so) to abandon the overly-simplistic and patently American pragmatic approach to viewing the world and attempt to adopt a philosophy/ideology/world view in which your perspective is constructed with at least a semblance of order and ALL events can be traced to PEOPLE'S thoughts and actions and be compared in relation to the circumstances in which the actions occurred. I know that sounds a bit wordy but, it is I believe, a more TRUE, a more useful, and ultimately more necessary way of characterizing the world, people, and events. I hope someone responds, I will gladly post and re-post to clarify. I have had many conversations regarding the American school of thought so I must add this; I write this not simply "be right", I write this certainly to "be right", spread knowledge, and encourage mental growth in my fellow human.
