He started back in 1994 playing Hard Techno and Industrial Gabber with free party sound systems such as Jiba, The Avit Army and SP23(Spiral Tribe) and also hosted a show on the now off-the air London based pirate Energy FM. His taste in music expanded far beyond the reaches of dance music alone and he found himself striking up a partnership with fellow DJ/Producer Asad Rizvi. They both loved house music but loved almost everything else as well. Together (with musician Charlie Inman from Appleheadz and Tom Gillieron) they formed Reverberations. A record label with which they could put out good music (whatever it might be). They also hosted the ridiculously debauched Reverbertaions parties at Tom Gillieron’s studio in Brixton, some of which have been referred to as “better than ‘88”. Ravi also lent his services to a number of other artists remixing such luminaries as B.T. and Robbie Williams. As the roster and reputation of the label has continued to grow Asad, Ravi and Tom Gillieron (One half of Dancing HQ/ Gillieron & McArthur and producer in his own right) have represented Reverberations both live and as DJs pretty much all over the world. Ravi has also ventured into to the world of multimedia working with a company called 3rd Planet on projects such as a promotional video for Sega and the intermission sequence for the Portobello Film Festival and will be musical director on BBC cameraman Steve Skitt’s debut film “How to film your neighbour”. Today, Ravi is currently co-producing an album with Impossible Beings (the band with which he plays guitar) which is due out this year on End Recordings (to be proceeded by two more EPs) and continues to remix and produce records for a number of labels including Loaded, End Recordings, Visitor and Tiga’s Turbo Recordings. A whole host of others have been knocking at the door as well so expect to see a lot more of Ravi McArthur on the shelves this year [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
