Mark fell in love with clubbing during the post Acid House Balearic scene at the turn of the 90's. He would spend his weekends tripping the light fantastic at Flying, Boys Own & Full Circle parties, gorging on the musical pot pourri that was emblematic of the 'Balearic' scene. He then became diverted by the first wave of progressive House and discovered that, contrary to popular opinion, the weekends really started on Thursdays, at The Drum Club, in the exalted company of Charlie Hall, Fabio Paras and Red Marc. His Saturdays were spent at Open All Hours at MoS, in the company of Darren Emerson and Jim Masters, being pummelled by the silky, atomic wallop of the extraordinary sound system. He flirted on occasion with the sleazy, decadent Puchca & Sign Of The Times parties, where one would be as transfixed as much by the high camp sheen of the preposterous poseurs, fashionistas and catwalk queens who sashayed overtly around the dancefloor as by the schizoid AcidHouseDiscoBalearic soundtrack of the night. He had already developed a taste for buying records, spending much of his time propping up the counter in seminal record emporiums such as Phuture, Flying Records, Quaff and Tag Records (his eventual employers a couple of years later) buying early Murk and DJ Pierre records amongst others. He wasted no time in ingratiating himself to the extremely gregarious Hanson brothers who ran the shop. By 1995, following the departure of Darren Stokes who left to pursue his Top 40 dream with Tin Tin Out, Mark had vaulted the counter to finally realise his ambition of working in this record shop. During the next six years he stamped his own musical identity on the shop and it became, without doubt, one of the finest underground House shops in the country. A chance meeting with Wiggle promoter and Tech-House Don, Nathan Coles in 1997 opened up a new musical realm for Mark and after attending his first Wiggle Party, he realised that that hot, funky netherworld that existed between the polar caps of House & Techno was where his musical heart lay.
In 1997, in partnership with Richard Summerhayes from Eukatech, he started up his own low-key night at the Sun & 13 Cantons in Soho called Records Of The Fortnight. It became, by all accounts, something of a monster Thursday night attracting a rowdy, beered up crowd happy to let rip like it was 4am on a Saturday morning. It attracted an extraordinary calibre of guests such as Terry Francis, DJ Sneak, Carl Cox, Halo & Hipp-e, Adam Beyer, Marco Carola, Gaetek, Christian Smith, Mr C, Nathan Coles, Matthew B, Trevor Rockliffe and Peace Division to name but a few, all playing for a few pints of Stella and nothing else.
At the end of 2000 Mark left Tag to take up an A&R position at UCMG(UK) home of the Eukahouse and Eukatech imprints amongst many others.
He left at the end of May 2002 and is his own label, FRISSON RECORDINGS, with fothcoming releases by Dav, Tony Thomas, Hakan Lidbo.
