Subject: The Desilu (Bryant Park) Years (and HOUSE LOCATION?)

There's a GREAT website devoted to Lucy and the Desilu studios:

It is filled with a lot of history and trivia regarding Lucy, Desi, Viv, Frawley, Gale Gordon, Eve Arden, Ann Sothern, and so forth, and also has a lot of info on the Desilu production company and its three studio facilities in the Hollywood area: Cahuenga Blvd, Gower Street (RKO), and the Culver City studios and backlot (RKO).

The Bryant Park seasons of My Three Sons were filmed at Desilu from 1960-67. There was a "set piece" of the front of the Bryant Park house built (indoors) on a Desilu soundstage at Desilu-Gower, the interiors were filmed at Desilu-Gower soundstages, and sometimes the exteriors were filmed at the Desilu-Culver backlot (the same backlot where Mayberry and numerous other TV series of the 60's were located).

BUT, the actual outdoor scene of the Bryant Park house was NOT located at the Desilu-Culver backlot. No, it was a REAL house (and surrounding neighberhood), SOMEWHERE in the Los Angeles metro area. Many have speculated WHERE this real residential house might have been located, but never came up with anything substantial...

HOWEVER, at the "We Love Lucy / LucyFan" website, click on:

for "Desilu Production Schedules".

There are four .jpg scans, of the shooting schedule of all shows filmed at Desilu -- for a two week period.

Under Desilu-Gower, for the first week, January 9-14, 1961,
you'll find My Three Sons filming several episodes, on "Stage-11". But also note that on Jan.11, 1961, they also filmed at the "837-5th Ave.Loc(ation)".

Remember that the Bryant Park address (no state ever mentioned), is 837 Mill Street!

And then for the following week, January 16-21, 1961, under Desilu-Gower, in addition to filming at "Stage-11", there is also on Jan.18, 1961, filming at the "Rancho Cienga Loc(ation)".

I wonder if this might be more associated with the REAL house exterior for the Bryant Park house? Maybe the community or neighberhood's "real" name? Southern California is filled with dozens of community names (both unincorporated and municipalities). There are probably several streets or avenues throughout southern California of 1961 named "5th-Ave", but if it still exists, exactly where is 837 5th Ave, for Bryant Park's 837 Mill Street house!?
