Governor Rendell gets to appoint whoever would succeed him. And it doesn't require the advice and consent of anyone. It would be just like when Gov. Casey got to pick Harris Wofford.
Somehow I doubt that Rendell would choose Mrs. Specter , Gov Ridge or any other Republican.
He'd pick someone he thought could win in the special election to follow.....or he could simply pick himself. Leaving Cathy Baker Knoll to run the state.
Let's hope he never has to make that decision....at least until he picks a new Lt. Governor for 2006.
