I take your point that the actual puzzle may be in the text and not the cipher, (which is quite a controversial point of view) however...
Hoax or not, it is my personal belief that the codes do in fact contain some form of English text!
Whether that text is relevant to the treasure remains to be seen.
Even if the translation simply states that "this is a hoax..." does it really matter? The act of deciphering the codes will in itself be a major accomplishment.
Perhaps the cipher contains the directions to a buried treasure, as some believe, or perhaps it does not. The "fact" remains, someone WILL decipher the codes and eventually publish the results.
I for one will be extremely interested in the end result, no matter what it turns out to be.
In fact, If you have read my posts over the last year or so (in The American Treasure Hunt Forum), you`ll already be aware of the method I advocate for deciphering the codes! I needn`t reiterate them here I hope. (that would incur one hugeeee post!)
Nevertheless, the search goes on and "to the victor belongs the spoils!"
