”Sugar… why didn’t you tell me? A long time ago!” Walter exclaimed as Nikita rode through the contraction and looked up at Walter. “I need to deliver this baby now, Walter.”
“Hell, Sugar… we should go to medical! I’m not a doctor! What if something…”
“No one will know. Ever,” Nikita hissed as she pushed her body up and looked at Walter. “You need to be ready to get this baby, Walter. I’m pushing…”
“Wait! You don’t know if that is right…”
“I’ve been in labor for almost a whole day, Walter.”
“You were running missions,” Walter pointed out and he tilted his head to the side. “No…”
“I only have a couple hours to have this baby, have you get it out of here, and be back to normal for a meeting with The Centre…. Now get ready to deliver this baby, Walter,” Nikita commanded as the pains washed over her body and Nikita started to bare down. It was with Nikita’s determination to start pushing that had Walter jump to action. When Nikita was determined, she could do anything.
“Oh… it’s crowning, Sugar… you are having a baby….” Walter whispered gently. He jerked his head up and looked at Nikita. “Please tell me that it is absolutely Michael’s and you didn’t just say that…”
“Walter,” Nikita looked at him with a face that she hoped told him that the only person she would ever think of having a child with in this situation was Michael. She would only risk her entire life in bringing a life into the world because it was Michael’s child.
Moments later, Walter lifted the baby up with tears in his eyes. “Sugar… it’s a girl… it’s a girl…”
Keane frowned as he looked at Nikita. Her mind wasn’t with her labor right now. It was about three hours in and the PTSD had reared its very ugly head about an hour ago. Michael was by her side as he was when she woke up in the middle of the night, mere hours before checking into the hospital to be induced. Finally their child decided that it was ready to come but now Keane was unsure about all of his decisions.
Keane stepped out into the hallway where Rhoda stood. “Can you call over to Ellie? I think… I’d like to have more hands here…”
“And Beatrice?” Rhoda suggested and Keane nodded his head, although he wasn’t sure how Beatrice would be able to help Nikita while she was so deep into the PTSD flash. He sighed and took a deep breath. It was in those moments while he heard Nikita crying in her room that he heard another voice.
Walter.
Keane reached out to Rhoda before she went to make the calls. “Ah… maybe it would be best that Walter… wasn’t in the house… or talking… I know that Nikita is in a flash and is in labor… but she has a sixth sense on some things and if she can hear him… it’s just going to make her remember more of…”
“And that is the flash that she is in?” Rhoda inquired and swallowed. “Of course it is… I’ll suggest that he takes the kids out for breakfast.”
“He’ll know why,” Keane spoke as he knew that Walter would understand once he got over that emotional reaction that he wanted to be here to support Nikita. Rhoda paused and looked at the doctor. “He said that he was here to support Michael, not Nikita. In case you have to… take her in.”
Keane blinked and said nothing. He slipped back into the room and Michael was using a towel against his wife’s head. “Come on, Kita…. I’m here… and you aren’t alone this time… I’m right here…”
”Sugar… why didn’t you tell me? A long time ago!” Walter exclaimed as Nikita rode through the contraction and looked up at Walter. “I need to deliver this baby now, Walter.”

Moments later, Walter lifted the baby up with tears in his eyes. “Sugar… it’s a girl… it’s a girl…”
“Don’t you dare start crying, Michael,” Keane warned Michael as he could see him reacting to the words that Nikita was muttering out. Clearly Nikita had told him enough of what had happened when she had delivered Sabina that her words now put images into his head. Michael jerked his head and exhaled. “Keane… I was wrong. She can’t handle this.”
“You both are going to have to handle this,” Keane declared as he walked to the bed and glanced at the equipment that was there. “You got to get her out of the flash.”
There was a knock at the door as Michael angrily stared at Keane. He was looking at the doctor for the answer and had just heard that he was going to have to do it. Michael didn’t like that answer and Keane knew it. He broke from looking at Michael to open the door to find Ellie there. “I was on my way over.”
Keane exhaled as he pushed his hand thru his hair as he let Ellie into the room. “I just wanted… the hands… we aren’t ready…”
Ellie felt her chest constrict as she saw Nikita. She had seen Nikita go thru flashes before and this was strong. It didn’t surprise her that it was happening. Labor was emotionally taxing and in that type of pain that Nikita probably didn’t even allow herself to register when she had Sabina; it wasn’t a surprise that she was stuck in those moments.
“Maybe you have an idea of how to stop this,” Michael focused on Ellie as he was just trying to find something to hold onto right now.
“Oh… it’s crowning, Sugar… you are having a baby….” Walter whispered gently. He jerked his head up and looked at Nikita. “Please tell me that it is absolutely Michael’s and you didn’t just say that…”

Moments later, Walter lifted the baby up with tears in his eyes. “Sugar… it’s a girl… it’s a girl…”
“You have to get her out, Michael… Nikita would do anything for you,” Ellie exhaled as she blinked her eyes, remembering when she first saw Nikita as Nikita, and not as Operations. She wasn’t sure if she was going to be taken back to Section One when Nikita showed up in her examination room. Even as Tom explained things, somewhere back in her mind, she was sure that she was on her way back. Until that first physical when Nikita tried to handle it by herself. She had been in flashes during that examination and Michael was there. “She needs to know that you are here… and that this is happening here, Michael.”
Michael heard Nikita crying out that she didn’t want to hear that it was a girl and he nodded his head. “Give us a moment… please…”
Keane was about to protest that someone should stay with them, but Ellie touched his elbow. Michael would shout out for them if something changed dramatically. Keane nodded his head and walked out with Ellie still holding onto his elbow.
Michael waited for the door to close and he knelt on the bed, down by Nikita’s knees to look directly at her. He exhaled as he didn’t want to do this. But right now, he had to break thru to the memories. He reached out and tightly grasped Nikita’s chin. “Kita… you aren’t in Section One… you aren’t Operations… you are Nikita Pomeroy… no, you are Nikita Samuelle and you are having our baby in our house…”
Nikita groaned as a contraction hit and Michael didn’t let loose. “Look at me, Kita… you aren’t alone… you have me with you this time… I’m going to be here with you… holding your hand… I’m going to be here as you have our child… our baby… Nikita Samuelle is going to have Michael Samuelle’s baby today…. And I’m going to be here with you all the way…. You aren’t back there in those memories… you just have to look at me… and hold my hand… ok…. Come on, Kita…”
She shuttered and Michael almost jumped off of her, but he held on and Nikita gasped and opened her eyes wide. “Michael…”
“Yeah,” Michael nodded his head up and down as he looked directly into her eyes. “You are having our baby… in our house…”
“We were… going to…” Nikita spoke and Michael chuckled slightly as he dropped his hand and immediately wrapped it around Nikita’s hand. “I guess our child doesn’t like hospitals either…”
Nikita nodded her head. “How long… was I…”
Michael quaked and swallowed back the bile in his throat. “Not long, Kita… not long at all.”
She seemed to relax slightly and Michael exhaled. She groaned as she leaned forward. “God… it hurts…”
“Its labor, Kita,” Michael nodded his head as he stroked his other hand thru her hair. “Keane… Ellie… its ok….”
The door opened and Keane was surprised as Michael had succeeded. He had been in the hallway about to call Tom to discuss what they could do when they called an ambulance to take this to the hospital when she didn’t come out of the PTSD flash.
Wisely, neither doctor commented about the flash and went back to the work of preparing for when Nikita would be ready to push.
And it wouldn’t be long.
