Michael was the first to slowly wake up, momentarily confused to find himself on the couch with Nikita in his arms, but quickly remembering how difficult it had been for a while last night. He was just thankful that once they had settled here together that Nikita seemed to have a peaceful rest. Slowly, Michael kissed Nikita’s head and rubbed her arms, letting her continue to sleep.

That was not the sleep that Michael wanted for Nikita last night. He wanted not a worry in her mind, but he knew that reality was reminding him that some things weren’t meant to be. With a roll of his eyes, he remembered how Sabina was planning on walking down the aisle.

Michael felt that someone was in the hallway as he was just wondering why it was so quiet in the house. He had almost been sure that Sabina would have been up at the crack of dawn with excitement for today. In many ways, Sabina had all the excitement that Nikita and Michael should have been having for this day.

But it wasn’t who Michael expected.

Walter looked in as he leaned against the doorframe. “Reagan let me in a while ago.”

“What time is it?” Michael whispered as he couldn’t quite turn his head to look at the clock.

“You got some time to snuggle with her,” Walter replied as Michael realized that Walter had anticipated that Nikita was going to have a difficult night. Walter nodded his head slightly. “Reagan got Sabina up before she woke up… she is safely ensconced over at Rhoda’s… Reagan heard things last night…”

Michael swallowed hard. He was sure that everyone in the house had heard.

“Everyone understands,” Walter whispered as he looked at Michael and then Nikita. “My Sugar…nothing is usually easy… but the rest of today… it’s the easiest part for her, Michael. She probably just can’t phantom it is going to be that easy.”

Michael kissed Nikita’s head as she slightly moved but didn’t make any real signs that she was starting to wake up. She was just responding to his touch. “Adam?”

“He just left… he is to have breakfast with Gretchen,” Walter spoke and then stop. Michael exhaled. He hoped that breakfast with Gretchen didn’t put Adam in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Not on this wedding day.

Michael glanced at Walter and the older man obviously had that feeling too. Walter shifted his weight and glanced at the clock. “I didn’t want to brew coffee too early… but I’m going to put that pot on… and make some breakfast…”

“You?” Michael questioned and Walter nodded his head. “I think I need to have some breakfast time with my Sugar… and I’ve learned how to make a pretty descent omelet.”

Michael didn’t want to know the story so he didn’t ask. Plus he knew that his time with Nikita like this was soon going to end once that coffee scent started to fill the house, which with Walter was not going to take long at all. He slightly shook his head and Walter took this as a cue to leave the soon to be married couple alone.

Slowly, Michael started to move Nikita up his body so he could press kisses against her cheek. Then Nikita tilted her head as she woke, capturing Michael’s mouth with hers in a gentle kiss that lingered as she was just waking up. Nikita then pulled away and truly opened her eyes, for a moment lost with why they were on the couch.

Until she remembered.

“Shh…” Michael whispered as he placed his fingers over Nikita’s lips. “That was the last night that you won’t have any good memories about getting married. Starting tonight… you’ll have good memories, Kita.”

Her eyes twinkled with the thought and Michael nodded his head as he slipped his finger away. But soon he was kissing her again, pulling her tightly against his body. Nikita shifted her body and moved against him and groaned.

“Ah Sugar… I might not be underage, but I really don’t want to see you and Michael getting down with it right now,” Walter chuckled from the door as he held two large mugs. Nikita jumped around and clutched the sheet that Michael had wrapped around them, although she was clothed fine. “Walter!”

“Coffee?” Walter offered as he entered the room and handed Michael the black coffee as he slipped off of the couch. Michael reached for the second cup and handed Nikita the coffee that had plenty of milk and sugar. “Five sugars in that one, Sugar.”

“You remembered,” Nikita replied back and Walter nodded his head slightly. “I’m going to make some omelets… Do you want cheddar cheese or pepper jack?”

Nikita looked at Michael and then smiled at Walter. “Michael would like me to have cheddar.”

Walter shook his head slightly. “This is why I had to come down here… I’ve got to supervise you two so you can get up to the cabin to be ready for the wedding since you both have to buck tradition so badly… and forget thinking you are going to get her into her wedding dress, lover boy. You may be walking down the aisle with my sugar… but she is getting dressed by the ladies because if we left that job to you… you may be getting married at midnight!”

Nikita almost spewed the coffee that she had managed to swallow before Walter had gone onto his rant. Nikita chocked the swallow and blinked her eyes. “Be careful Walter… Sabina could come down.”

“Sabina was taken out of the house hours ago… hopping I think,” Walter tossed his hands in the air and left the happy couple alone. Nikita looked at Michael as he placed his coffee down. “What are you questioning? The fact that Reagan got Sabina out of the house when she woke up or the fact that she was hopping?”

Nikita broke into a broad smile. “I suddenly don’t care what Sabina does going down the aisle… she could do the moonwalk… or the crazy chicken dance… I don’t care about that.”

Michael wagged a finger and shook his head. “Adam may be gone too… but that is probably why Walter is here… to be our chaperone.”

“We are adults,” Nikita whispered as she moved to Michael and pressed him down against the couch.

“Sugar, get your hands off of your groom now!” Walter bellowed from the kitchen and Nikita looked at Michael. “There is no way that he knows that… unless Jason has a camera in here.”

“I wouldn’t put that pass them,” Michael sighed and Nikita laughed.

“Sugar…. Don’t make me come in there!”
