Thank you, I believe I will. The PBS broadcast was a heavily edited, very much "reduced" version of a live taping of the Complete Works show, filmed in Vancouver, Canada in November 2000, aired in the US March 2001. It featured way too many reaction shots of the audience, and way too little of the onstage action. But, since I'd never seen or heard of them before--I loved it! Adam about Coriolanus: "I don't like the 'anus part', no, it's offensive and we have some young children here...", pointing to a kid in front of him, who protested "I'm 13!" Adam holds his hands up in mock defense, then asks the young girl next to him "is this your Mommy?" Austin leans over saying "Adam, I think that kid could kick your ass." They also did the Lewinsky reference with Ophelia, and in the Commedies summary "one of the shrews was elected Senator from New York", (a reference to Mrs Clinton), but from what I've learned now about the shows, all the Ophelia-from-the-audience, the offstage running, and according to other RSC emails, fire-eating, was cut from the aired show. But the full or fuller-length video is reportedly out for sale in June or July. From your descriptions, it seems they did a very "safe" version, not so many topical jokes and references, or maybe they were doing more the "original" version? Whatever, the basic was gold enough for me--Adam's energetic playfulness, sexy even as Juliet, Reed incomparable every second he's onstage (check out his reacting!), Austin the straight-man, the foil, the adult amongst the kids (with that wonderful 'actors' trained voice). What can I say, Nina? Sharing yourself is love; they shared and now I'm in love!
Regards, Anne Sewell
