Feeling Mistreated, Brady Relieved Show Over

Emmy-winning talk show host Wayne Brady says he feels a sense of relief since the announcement of his show's cancellation. As far as Buena Vista TV, syndicator of "The Wayne Brady Show," it sounds like a not-so-fond farewell.

"I loved doing the show and I'm so happy that it was able to bring a lot of joy to people," he says, "but sometimes your show just isn't appreciated by the parent studio as it should be. I feel like for doing a great job, for winning those Emmys last year, for being nominated again this year, and for getting the accolades I have, that the show was mistreated."

News of the axing of "Wayne Brady" came a few weeks before it was nominated for two Daytime Emmys - Outstanding Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show Host. Tony Danza's talk show is expected to play in place of Brady on ABC stations come fall.

Meanwhile, "I want to be able to do the type of show that continues to make people happy and I just don't think I can do that right now but soon I hope to be doing it again," says Brady with a smile. He won't be resting for long. Brady's working on a CD set to be out in September and is developing another television show, possibly for next season.
