Hey, everyone!

Contestants are now being sought for the upcoming Miss Music City/Miss Davidson County scholarship pageant, to be held Saturday, September 25, at the Andrew Johnson Theatre at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in downtown Nashville. The deadline for entries is Friday, September 10.

We have a terrific production planned, headlined by emcees Amy Alderson and Joe Dubin of WKRN-Channel 2 and our reigning titleholders Brandi Harris and Paige-LéTesha Roy.

Our host hotel—and site of the private interview competition with our judges—is the historic Hermitage Hotel, Tennessee's only five-diamond hotel, located just across the street from TPAC. Our panel of judges is impressive, with judges coming from New York, New Jersey, Missouri, the District of Columbia, along with a former MIss Tennessee and a former Miss South Carolina. Oh, yeah, one of our judges will be a well-known country music celebrity.

Contestants must adhere to MAO's requirements and our two new titleholders will have a full slate of appearances on tap in the coming months. Both Miss Music City and Miss Davidson County will be spokespeople for the T.J. Martell Foundation, which is funded by the music industry (their Nashville board of directors reads like a who's who of Music Row). In addition, our presenting sponsor, The Music City Motorplex, will give our two titleholders many opportunities throughout the year to make appearances and represent them on television and in print advertising for the Motorplex. On the night before the pageant, they'll be hosting a contestant meet-and-greet at the Motorplex, where you'll be presented to the thousands of race fans on hand for a big NASCAR weekend at the track.

Two nights before the pageant--on Thursday, September 23--we'll be hosting a fundraising gala at the Hermitage Hotel to raise funds for the pageant and for the Martell Foundation. Called "Diamond Divas," the event will feature former Misses America Kellye Cash Sheppard, Tara Dawn Holland Christensen and Debbie Maffett Wilson, along with some country music stars. An outstanding woman member of the country music community will be presented with the Diamond Diva Award, in recognition of her serving as a role model to the young women in our pageant system. Kellye Cash Sheppard will be presented with the Diamond Legacy Award at our pageant on Saturday night, in recogition of her continued involvement in the MAO. Sites Jewelers of Clarksville will present specially designed pieces of diamond jewelry to the award recipients. Our pageant contestants are not required to take part in Diamond Divas, but those who do will be modeling "Oscar-calibre" diamonds throughout the evening.

On Sunday, September 26, at 2 p.m., we'll be hosting our teen pageant, at which we will crown Miss Music City Teen and Miss Davidson County Teen. Paige and Brandi will emcee that event.

Another important note for contestants: At Miss Music City/Miss Davidson County, you'll have your own individual hostess whose job it is to make sure you have a wonderful time. Your hostess will be your backstage confidante, best friend, mom, dresser...you name it.

Email us with any questions or comments. Thanks! Tickets to the pageant will be available through TicketMaster locations throughout Middle Tennessee starting on August 1.
