The front page is still in-progress being as there's some things that are taking priority in my life at the moment. Anyway.

Lemies is a planet all it's own. Dragons reside on this planet. They're sentient and can speak, though not through words as a human does, but through telepathy. If humans are present at birth, and the human(s) are empathetic (i.e. they're sensitive to the feelings of humans and/or animals) the dragons may be imprinted.

Imprinting is a process where the mind of rider and dragon are connected. They can speak to each other through telepathy. The bond is very strong and if a rider dies the dragon will suicide, the same is often true for the riders if their dragons die. Not everyone is capable of Imprinting, or even being chosen to imprint.

Lemies has one reaccuring problem. The Elizer, they are small dragon-like creatures. Every 60 or so years they come to Eastern and Alast (the two known continents of Lemies) in mass swarms (similar to lemmings) and devour all animal life in sight, tearing through buildings and vegetation that is in their path to get to any source of food. These attacks last for about 5 years. Then the Elizer, their hunger sated and their population now greatly dwindled, return to wherever they're from, the people of Lemies don't know, but the Elizer actually origionate from one another continent of Lemies to the south.

The dragons and their riders train to fight this menace, thus their importance to the culture. Before the humans discovered that they could actually Imprint the dragons of their world they lived in scattered groups across the two ajoined continents of Eastern and Alast. Anything they built, unless it was out of the rock itself, would be destroyed whenever the Elizer came. But now, with the dragons and their riders protecting them, they are able to spread out and live safely in their towns and cities.
