Memories came crashing down a rotten
Attic floor full of junk. Picking through
The rubble I rejected most, savoured some
In a frame of eternal spring and hid, in a
Heartbeat the painful ones.


Mother's false teeth, on the mantle piece,
A tobacco-stained grin of triumph, I'll leave
Behind… I think. The rest will end up in an
Antique shop, where the trendy lot buys
Piss pots for soup terrines.
