This is an imitation of Edgar Allan Poe's wonderful poem "Eldorado."

Where can it be
This land you see--
In darkness or in shadow?
Without the Sight,
Lost in the Night,
Invisible wherever we go.

Must I cross the sea
If long quest to be
In your tomb extended shadow?
Or shall I run
Baked by the sun
To be buried under Eldorado?

Where can I find,
Heathen god of mine,
This land where you mortally toil?
How do I join?
What level of coin
Need I to escape beneath the soil?

"Child," he said--
"Wait 'til you are dead,
But, for now, know it is true--
No matter what others say,
How ardently for you they pray--
I shall eternally be you."
