Subject: Treckel's flight: repost

One day, while the star hadn't even risen yet, Treckel awakened, irritable and hungry, more so than she had ever been, even when she had hatched she hadn't felt such intense hunger. Coremar awakened as well, this was it. She?d been warned and she knew what to do. Before her dragon was fully awake and able to get out of her corner of their dran Coremar was sprinting down the stairs and across the grass to the feeding grounds.
The Watcher announced the Flight and sent a warning for the gold dragons to get out. Three golds disappeared, including Saphirel. Coppers and browns awakened to the sound of the red as she leapt off her ledge and flying towards the feeding grounds.
She would not be allowed to gorge herself on her first flight as most wild dragons did. The crimson hide seemed to glow in the pre-dawn light.
Slightly startled riders stumbled out as their dragons began to blood their own kills. Unusual for a dragon to rise before the star was out, but Treckel was different. Her kind rose with or slightly before the star did.
Treckel's cry of defiance was no doubt heard throughout the Dran, and beyond, waking nearly all of its occupants. The loud, deep bugle of defiance reverberated against the walls as Coremar fought to convince her instinct-driven dragon to only blood the kill. The energy was needed, the more energy the more strength, the more strength the higher the endurance, the longer the flight, the better the clutch.
After blooding the first kill she swooped down upon another herad, the poor creature hadn't a change against the red. Tail and talons slashing at the creature's side to bring it down. Several more herads fell at her claws before she thrust upward with her powerful hindquarters.
They would never catch her, she was too smart, too fast, and although larger than they, much more agile. With another defiant trumpet Treckel launched into the air. Wings unfolded, air catching the sails. The tail membrane also spread, although not nessicarily helping in lifting her massive body it did help vastly with steering. She was off the ground, in the air, her element. There would be no catching of her. She couldn't be caught. She was Treckel, THE Red Dragon.
Wings beat as she climbed in the sky, followed immediately by the beating of brown and copper wings. Tilting wings and tail she made a sharp turn, all of the following males made a much wider turn, unable to match her agility.
They strained to keep up with her, stay near her; she mocked them, twisting and turning, diving, only to rise again, faster than any of them.

Coremar and Treckel

*The copper arrived, fresh from Deman. After dropping off his rider he was in the skies and after the gleaming red in the morning's pre-dawn light.*(J'lor and Pummel)
R'mar's Bufiel took flight as he stepped upon the grassy turf towards the knott of riders that had gathered. He'd only been here for a month and already he was in the midsts of the action. (R'mar and Bufiel)
*The copper took to the skies with a powerful bugle, giant wings pumping with precision as he trailed the red closely. He might match her speed if she wasn't quite as large, but he knew there was no contest as to who the more agile was. He followed her every move... he would wait this one out. Let the others get tired, less able to keep up. He coasted towards the back of the pack, feigning fatigue as S'vron joined the waiting riders on the ground* (S'vron and Daerel)
*Both the brown and The copper of the two brothers bugeled, pushing off to follow the rest. They stuck to the middle of the pack, Ballel just ahead of Galarel, while B'rri and E'liott moved swiftly to where the other riders waited. Shortly after another Brown, instantly recognisabole as T'zan's Nationel was following the group, working hard to keep up. (E'liott & Galarel, B'rri & Ballel, T'zan & Nationel)
*Waverel burst onto the scene, Q'inn arrived and joined the other riders. (Q'inn and Waverel)
Wings tucked close to her side as she rolled to one side before tilting her nose downward and rocketing downward. She pulled up mere rods from the ground, sailing upwards as the membrane stretched between her wings filled with air and pulled her upward, higher and higher, straight through the clouds that had gathered, threatening a storm within the unit. (Treckel)
*Nationel plumeted after her, T'zan began to worry the he wouldn't pull out intime. Inches from the ground Nat managed to pull out of it and soared upwards. That had cost him more time and he fell well behind the others, but he wasn't giveing up, not yet...* (T'zan & Nationel)
*He, for one, doesn't chase after the downward-swooping red, waiting for her to inevitably turn upwards again. Rejoining the chase, he pulled ahead of the young brown who had misjudged Treckel's downward plunge. Gaining even more on the magnificent red, he opted to fly just below the cloud cover rather than in it, awaiting her exit. He wasn't about to be lost in the wispy greyness.*(Daerel)
*She climbed up yet again, bursting ou above the cloud cover, causing the moisture-laden whisps of sky to swirl about her crinsom wings as the downbeated once more to take her up and over the clouds. The sudden light of the star sheered the sky above the clouds.* (Treckel)
*He noticed the shifting in the clouds and realized what the red had done. Not missing a beat of the almost rhythmic downbeat of his copper wings, he flickered out and reappeared above the clouds, edging further along in the pack, but not enough for the top dragons to think anything of him... yet*(Daerel)
Bufiel found himself towards the head of the pack, though someof his initial energy was waning into a steady beat. (Bufiel)
*Both Galaryth and Ballel were at the start of the pack, haveing spent years flying strieght they had powerful muscles. Both pulled up easily above the clouds after the red, soaring upwards.* (B'rri & Ballel, E'liott & Galarel)
*Nat began to pull back the lost ground, inch by inch (Or whatevr mesurement) He was up with the back markers by the time he broke the couds.* (Nationel)
*Pummel came up through the clouds, bugling as he turned after the red, though not in the front of the pack he held a nice position amidsts the fore-runners.(Pummel)
Waverel pulled past Bufiel and matched the pace of the leading coppers, though he was a length or two behind them. (Waverel)
*Undetected, the copper moved below the pack, still shrouded by cloud cover. Suddenly, there he was among the middle of the pack, moving steadily forward to pose a threat to the foremost pursuers*(Daerel)
Bufiel dropped out, as did the vetran Pummel, the flight was lasting too long for their taste and they were near exauhsted, glidly back dejectedly back to the Dran. Although they weren't the first ones to drop the definately wouldn't be the last either.(Pummel and Bufiel)
She pushed forward, faster and harder. Wings beating about the thin air as they pushed her bulk forward. A sudden swerve sent her through a billowing cloud formation, causing a slight explosion of white moisture-laden whisps.(Treckel)
*Pulling ever closer Galarel followed through the cloud, Ballel not far behind him. For a brown Ballel could hold his own, despite begining to tire. Laging slightly behind, although now up with the back markers, Nationel followed. Suddenly a new copper burst into the air, and, after depositing his rider, Joined the Foire. It was Brakiel from Terren Darn.*(Brakiel, Ballel, Galarel & Nationel)
*Daerel hung back, letting one or two of the other competitors pass him to make it look as though he was tireing, although he was just beginning to feel the raw energy that coursed through his veins*(Daerel)
Her head turned for a moment to take a glimps at those still trailing. She was still full of energy, not about to tire. She took a bay turn to the right, light channeled though the translucent membrane, casting a red tint upon the graying clouds.(Treckel)
*Daerel was quite an impressive sight, gleaming fresh copper awash in the soft red light that filtered through the magnificent red's wings. Though instinct told him to go faster, to fly harder, his cunning plan kept him back, holding the power that threatened to burst forth*(Daerel)
