Author: Belial and Trelena
Subject: Soon enough, girl and dragonet were settled down comfortably amongst the other dranling pairs.
In reply to: Aislinne & Birinfa, Belial, Trelena, M'kar and Dremel 's message, "Meant to post this a while ago..." on 14:55:10 11/05/01 Mon

"So..." Belial murmured absently, gaze seeking Trelena's.

"So," she echoed, their eyes meeting, "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"That it has," he replied, almost regretfully. There was a long silence, then finally, he added, "Look, Trelena, I- I just thought you should know that the way I used to feel about you... well... it hasn't changed," he finished in a rush, hazel eyes desperately seeking out some sort of reaction.

Her face fell. "Oh, 'Lial, I'm so sorry..." Clear blue-green eyes avoided his.

He froze. Then, realization dawned on him. "Zwenel rose, didn't she?" When Trelena didn't respond, he knew he'd guessed correctly, "Trelly, why didn't you tell me?"

"I- I don't know," a long, drawn-out sigh escaped the whiterider, "I forgot, probably. But 'Lial, it's been so long, and I wasn't sure of how you felt, and... well... I don't know."

"Who's the lucky rider?" Belial was surprisingly calm. Then again, he somewhat expected it. He hadn't seen her, at least, not in person, in nearly five Rotations.

"J'hn. Cybrenel's rider. He's a really good guy," she felt horribly guilty talking to Belial about him. But then, she'd expected him to go on with his life when she'd been Searched so long ago.

"He must be, for Zwenel to have let Cybrenel catch her," Belial replied.

Another long silence.

Then, "Can we at least stay friends?"

All the despair drained from Trelena's face, replaced by a slow smile, "I was hoping you'd ask..."
