  She had been looking forward to going home for winter break virtually since the day she had stepped on the plane in the summer to come here. And now, three days before Christmas, here she was - still here, and stuck. Apparently every flight from December seventeenth through till the twenty-fifth to Hawaii was booked and overbooked and somehow she was one of the unfortunate souls who had lost her ride home. After spending essentially the last forty-eight hours in the airport trying to find something, she had given in and headed back here - feeling completely let down and more than a little disappointed. This was her favorite time of year, and it was looking like she wasn't going to get to spend a single moment with her family - wasn't going to get a chance to be around hoards of loving people, or a chance to lie out on the silky white sand in the sun. Chocolate cords fit to her hips and a rich pink hoodie to her torso, a toque was pulled down over her ears and her hands were shoved into the front pockets of her pants as she made her way silently down the chilly beach, shoulders slightly hunched. Her eyes were on her feet through the sand and her brows gently furrowed, lips pursed into a saddened pout - if she was home, she could be wearing a skirt and just a light top, and she wouldn't be alone, walking by herself late at night. This was definitely shaping up to be the worst Christmas yet...

  • Her attention was focussed mostly on her feet as she trudged her way down the chilly beach - but atleast it was clear and not snowing, of course she wasn't much in the mood for playing the optimist. Glancing up though to take a quick look in the direction she was going, she spotted the figure on his way towards hers - but she wasn't quite sure if it was him, so just continued on, crossing her arms slow underneath her chest. Seeing him had definite potential to brighten her evening maybe a little bit, but she wasn't about to get her hopes up, because with her luck it wouldn't be him or anyone else who she knew...   • Being who, and what he was, he was ever aware of his surroundings, and particularly the feminine form that he was quickly approaching. He did prove to be a particularly lazy one when it came right down to it - he'd rather be parked in front of a video game than at the gym, but there were appearances to be kept up and all of that sort of thing.   His head was pounding as he sat by the blazing fire they had built, largely ignoring the rowdy conversations of the group of beach bums he had grown up with, gazing out over the seemingly inky black water, the moonlight higlighting the blue in the path it made rippling over the water. She roar of crashing waves could still be heard over the group and it was almost haunting him, keeping his gaze fixed out there. It was cold out tonight... almost freezing infact, but the blankets and fire did a good job in keeping them warm. He had Desi tucked under his arm as he leant back on his hand, wrapped in one of the blankets as the group reminiced and made plans, shared ambitions and dreams... like they always did at these things. Everyone seemed to be having a great time but the absence of one key part pf the group was obviously missing, and everyone was doing their best to ignore it. Luke, however, had glanced across the fire at Jason and Ana more than once and seen Sky in her place, he put it down to the headache... and tried not to dwell on it.

  • She had noticed that he was being unusually quiet, usually, Luke was the life of the party at these things. Instead though, he had just been silently staring out at the waves. She couldn't lie and say she wasn't concerned about him, because she was, he just hadn't been acting himself since they got back here.   • He didn't hear her- he heard nothing except Skye's screams for help. There were times that he had cried out her name in his sleep, it tore at her heart, knowing she was second place in his heart wasn't an easy thing but they had fought about it so many times that she just stopped bringing it up or even thinking about it, she just lived with it.   • Luke glanced towards them at Luke's calling, but as soon as he did, he heard Skye's voice echoing in his head again. He lifted a hand to his head and closed his eyes. The cold water began to stiffen his limbs, his breathing becoming shallow. She started reluctantly back to the shore, but didn;t make it far, his body beginning to shut down, starting with his limbs. She grabbed him tightly, his body a dead weight for her as she tried to pull him back up to the surface. Thankfully she had been trained as well as he had in being a lifeguard and could use his own weight to her advantage but it still wasn't easy with the freezing water. She made it to the shore where Jason took Luke and dragged him over to the fire, quickly getting his friend out of his clothes and into the dry jeans, covering him with blankets and rubbing his limbs firmly.   They had a few close encounters here and there, but behaved more like an old married couple than anything -- they were the best of friends but romantically were still stuck at the impasse they had found themselves at previously. She felt like she was far too busy being a mom to the brood of children they had between them to be much of a girlfriend anyways, so it worked out evenly. It had been, however, her suggestion to hire a sitter for the kids today and head out to catch some of the last waves before it turned too frigid for off-season anyways. She was suited up in a long sleeved, short legged wetsuit, with her board under arm as she came up out of the waves onto the slightly chilled sand. This was something they would have done when they were kids -- they hadn't had much of a chance to bond over the waves lately, so they were taking advantage now.

  She hated this time of year here- with summer just over it left her feeling a little down that they had a whole 3 seasons before it would be hot again. She sat herself on the hood of Jordans truck that she had borrowed however, her hands shoved in the front pockets of her snug-fitted zip up hoodie as she watched the sun go down over the ocean. For a while she'd been doing a little better- she;d tried to clean herself up and quite the job at the strip joint but rent kept building up and old habbits die hard. She lifted the lit joint to her lips and inhaled smoothly as her blue gaze flickered over the waves absently. At 22 she felt no more sure of her life as she had at seventeen... and it seemed she had been left behind while all her friends rushed ahead with relationships, jobs, families and dreams.

  • After spending all morning at his Cadie's place, the girl had sent him packing. It was obvious that her and Tyson wanted some alone time and he was cramping her style already. In a totally fabricated fit, he had stormed out into the cool evening in just khaki shorts and a cozy grey hoodie - the hood pulled over his shaggy, wild hair - but looked back through the glass doors just in time to toss one of his trademark impish grins at the pair. Her place being right on the beach totally suited him just fine and so he was off hiking through the heavy, soft sand - in no particular direction at first, but then he spotted the truck in the lot nearby, and a pretty little blonde sitting on the hood.   She missed Hawaii already - more for the simplistic life that she could lead there, than anything else. On one hand, it was nice to be home, and after this weekend it would be back to a scheduled life, but on the other - the end of vacation meant that she would have to put some focus in to school, and Taurus would be back traveling for work on and off. Of course they couldn't be carefree and idle for forever, but it had been too nice of a summer to actually be looking forward to getting back to the grind. So, she was out here on this clear but chilly Saturday night for some fresh air and to let her puppy run around, and to ponder the next few months. An oversized black hoodie that she had found on the floor in their bedroom - she assumed it was Taurus' - dwarfed her slight frame, and hung low enough that only a sliver of the hem of her denim cutoffs was visible. She was sitting on the edge of a log with the sweatshirt's sleeves pulled over her fingers, hands tucked between her knees. Head tilted only a fraction, her fine blonde and black dreads were braided over one shoulder, and her eyes were following Allie out in the shallow surf - the young Golden wasn't quite so puppyish in looks anymore, but still delightfully immature in her mind and actions, so always provided good entertainment...

  • He had been at home making some business calls when she said she was taking the dog out and had only been able to blow her a kiss in between 'mhmm's' and 'uh-huh's'. So, once he had all of that completed he headed out clad in jeans and a long sleeve tee shirt, fingers shoved into his pockets as he dragged his flip flops through the loose sand as he headed down towards her usual spot on the beach. He wasn't much of an outdoor person but she was so more often then not he found himself dragging his reluctant form to the out of doors to track her down.   They had escaped from the over crowded, busy house for a little while, and were currently taking advantage of the sun out on the sandy beach, with the breeze off the ocean cooling them down. He found it so easy to be around her- more so than anyone he;d previously been with or been around... he wasn;t putting up fronts or trying to be more- he could be himself and he knew it was enough. He'd been for a dip in the ocean- having quickly grown accustomed to the new experience of the water... he wasn;t yet swimming but he didn;t mind wading about in the water. He wandered back up towards the beach to where he'd left her asleep in the shade, he knew the heat got to her sometimes- witht he pregnancy and all.

  She climbed from his car and headed over to the beach in silence, as they had the whole way here, though it wasn;t really awkward... it was more just reflective. She was thinking over what he'd told her- and what she herself had admitted. She offered him a soft smile and fell into step close beside him, heading down the beach with him until they reached their usual destination. Her tears had stopped though it was clear she had been crying, her eyes were a little watery still.She settled down on the rock and wound her arms around her knees, tucking them tight to her chest, looking up at him almost expectantly.

  She had managed to slip out from her window- beneath their room was the porch, and the roof to it- so she'd been able to slip down it and away without being spotted- or at least without being shouted back. She walked down the stretch of beach which had become so familiar to her, where they had first met- and where the subsequently made their own meeting place. Her long hair fell around her forlornly, a black hoodie only slightly fitted to her frame, a pair of her usual pale jeans low on her hips and the uniform sneakers. Dispite her light make-up she still looked awful... almost grey. Her bright blue eyes were clearly still emotional and dull. She glanced up from her feet to the usual rock, half hoping he wasn;t there so that she wouldn't have to face this.

  • She took the phone tentitively, looking up to him with tear glazed eyes, biting at her lower lip for just a moment. She knew she'd have to be getting back... the sun was doing down and she'd be missed before long she was sure... but as she gazed up at him with her heart and soul written in her eyes she couldn't leave him... it was like she was looking at him for the last time.   He and Damien were seated on the boulder where they'd originally met, waiting. She had refused to allow him to come and pick her up, so they had agreed to meet at a certain spot, as they always did, just to chill out. The dog sat near his owner's feet, panting a bit in the twilight warmth of the beach, the sand still toasty from the day's ravaging sun. Shuffling his feet in the sand, he waited, not a particularly patient person, but it was enough. He soon saw a figure moving across the beach.

  • She was a little late- she'd helped Jackie clear up after dinner and had been shatting to her, and she could hardly just tell her to hush so she could rush out and go out with him. It was a little difficult too- slipping out- although she had got by fairly unnoticed. She came a little more nicely dressed tonight too- though still not really dressed up. She had a pair of soft blue denim jeans on and a baby doll top which discreetly accentuated her form, her long blonde locks teased into soft curls and tucked back behind her ears, her make up very subtle and light.   • The dog was just about as smitten with the girl as the boy was - so as the both of them rose up to head off to meet her, Damien cut in front of Ryan, causing him to stumble to regain his balance - Damien then rushing off to greet the girl.   • She hated storms... she always had- even when she was a little girl she had gone running into her brothers room and curled up in bed with them.
