It wasn't that she was totally naive to the risks that Luca posed, and sometimes she felt that Brett underestimated her. She hadn't stayed with Luca for those two years because she had been oblivious to the fact that he was not a good man and because she thought that he loved her. She really hadn't had any way out - he supported her, she had no way to support herself really, and frankly, she had been a little afraid of what his reaction would be if she were to tell him that she was leaving him. Still though, Brett was right, and she did prefer to turn a blind eye than confront the problems. She was just tired of being cautious, and on edge, and she just wanted to live a normal life with her baby and her future husband - though she knew that a completely normal life would never be possible as long as Brett had the job that he did, which he probably would for a very long time. When he suddenly rushed off with her in tow, she frowned in confusion, but said nothing, and just walked quickly to keep up. The moment he paused, she pushed against his shoulder to pull her fingers away from his, then just stood there with both her hands on her hips, tone indignant. "I am not doing this, Brett. I'm not running around and hiding and playing your spy game." She couldn't understand being threatened on a busy street in the middle of the day, and all she wanted was to enjoy her lunchtime.
