Scorsese's politics have always leaned far left. When he did the American Masters bio on Dylan, he worked for 2 years on it without any contact with Dylan. "I'd not like to deal with the man directly," Scorsese told members of the Television Critics Association. "I'd like to find the story and then play it out the way I think it's right. ... It's better I just deal with the material." Apparently he didn't like Dylan's refusal to come out against the Vietnam War, or his Gospel music.
So, his take on Scaife would be very interesting indeed.
