Subject: Customer Service -- Or The Lack Of It --At The P-G

An elderly neighbor was attempting to call one of the offices at the Post-Gazette. She dialed the main number that was listed in the telephone directory.

The first time she called, whoever answered the telephone didn't have a clue to whom to direct her call and hung up on her.

My neighbor asked me to call the newspaper offices for her. I called and explained to the person answering the phone what my neighbor wanted. Long story short: I ended up being transferred to a half-a-dozen extentions before someone finally connected me to the right party.

Has anyone else ever had a similar experience with the Post-Gazette? Does this happen often?

I think that for a newspaper that calls itself "One of America's Great Newspaper," its customer service leaves a lot to be desired. More importantly, can the Post-Gazette afford to alienate its readers this way?
