That's a real stretch. Would it be OK for them to have their picture taken with it if it was at a mall, or they went to the hockey hall of fame as a tourist? Should they not get their picture taken with Mickey Mouse if they go to Disney? Maybe they should just lock themselves in their houses, or a sensory deprivation chamber when they aren't working so as to not be influenced by, or have any contact with, the outside world.

Reporters and editors can also be fans of something, or recognize the fact that it's a once in a lifetime moment to see the stanley cup up close and not be corrupted by it. It's an attraction, and a piece of hardware that is not actually a news subject in the sense that reporters or editors could be swayed to write favorable stories about it. It was a fun event that a lot of folks got to enjoy. Had you stopped by, you could have had your picture taken, too. We threw open the doors to anyone who wanted to come by.
And I didn't see any news stories or editorials in the Trib that seemed to slant things Lord Stanley's way over the last few days.
