You know, I also thought about this.

My take: The Stanley Cup going to the Trib doesn't go against journalism ethics. It wasn't a news event, news conference, game or public viewing. It was a private event.

There is talk that a KDKA-TV sports reporter asked the coach following a game for a photo with the cup. Now that breaks the rules of journalism.

As for the food issue that was discussed in a few posts, I'm torn. I've accepted bottled water from events and still maintained proper journalism ethics.

It's true, reporters are people, too. But there is a time and a place for everything, and the cup visiting the Clark building isn't a bad thing.
